The NMAT-2011 will be offered in a 3 month testing window from October 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010.

NMAT-2011 will be a 120 minutes test comprising of questions in three sections viz. Quantitative Ability, Language Skills and Logical Reasoning. The questions are multiple choice types where the candidate needs to select one of the answers. The Sections will be offered in following sequence – Quantitative, Language Skills and Logical Reasoning.

You will be able to review questions and / sections after you have navigated through all the questions. Review Screen will give you the opportunity to either move directly to incomplete (unanswered) and flagged for review questions or review all or any question.

NMIMS implemented CBT with the intention to provide a reliable examination process along with providing numerous benefits to candidates in NMAT - 2010. For NMAT – 2011 delivery, NMIMS have gone a step further to make the exam friendly for candidates, with the addition of following features:
• Long exam delivery window of 3 months from October 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010
• Convenience of viewing the availability of exam slots in real time
• Convenience of scheduling the test on the available dates, times and locations most appropriate for the candidate
• Self scheduling on First Come First Served basis
• Option of rescheduling the test during entire exam delivery window
• Option to take the exam multiple times (maximum 3 attempts) to improve the scores and to avoid losing an    opportunity to test NMAT-2011 due to some emergency
• Results within 5 weeks from candidate exam delivery
• Highest score of all the attempts to be considered by NMIMS
• No negative marking

NMIMS wishes to assess a candidate’s best performance and at the same time reduce the stress associated with a single sitting exam or exam offered in a short time window. The 3 months test window provides adequate time to the candidates to take the test when they are best prepared and avoid conflicts with other exams. The candidates will also get the convenience to reschedule the test in case of any exigency. The longer window also provides the candidate with the opportunity to retake the test (maximum 3 attempts) in case they feel that their performance was impaired on the test day for any reason or if they feel they can improve their performance in retake attempt.

The NMAT-2011 is a computer-delivered test where each candidate gets a randomly generated exam from a pool of questions. The number of questions, difficulty levels and the time limit for the test is predetermined and, under normal administration conditions, are the same regardless of when and where the test is administered. The test is non-adaptive in which the computer will display questions one at a time. Only after a candidate takes an action on the first question, will the computer display the next question.

All candidates who complete the Test Registration, pay the test fee within the time specified and follow the published test rules, may sit for the NMAT-2011. It is the responsibility of the candidate to understand the eligibility requirements of the management program to which they are applying before deciding to register for the NMAT-2011. If a candidate registers for the test and then determines that they are not eligible for admission to the intended program, no test- fee refund will be offered. The content will not change for the NMAT-2011. The NMAT-2011 will be a multiple-choice question paper that includes Quantitative Ability, Language Skills and Logical Reasoning.

After the registration and payment being received by NMIMS, candidates will receive an e-mail at the e-mail id specified by them in the online application form confirming their registration for NMAT-2011. After that, the candidate will receive another e-mail from Pearson VUE containing a unique username and password. The candidate will then have to visit www.pearsonvue.com/nmims and schedule their test on their own. The candidates will get to choose the date, time slot and location of their preference subject to availability on a First come First Serve basis. The Pearson VUE system shows the availability of seats at the test center on real time basis. Within 24 hours of scheduling the test, candidate will receive a confirmation e-mail mentioning their test venue name and address along with date and time of the test. If you do not receive the e-mail within 24 hours of scheduling the test, please contact the NMAT helpdesk.

The NMAT-2011 will be administered across eighteen locations within India. The locations are-
North : Chandigarh, Delhi, Jaipur and Lucknow
West : Ahmedabad and Mumbai
South : Bengaluru, Chennai, Cochin and Hyderabad
Central : Allahabad, Bhopal, Indore and Bhillai
East : Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kolkata and Patna
Some cities will have multiple test centers to choose from.
The NMAT-2011 will not be offered at any international location.

A candidate can take NMAT – 2011 up to a maximum of 3 times (first attempt plus 2 retake attempts), if he/she wishes to.

If a candidate chooses to take the exam more than one time, then NMIMS will consider the highest score of all the attempts for its admissions decision.

No. You will not lose out in competing with others if you take the NMAT-2011 only once. Do not be misled by others opinion on tests being easy or difficult in any given period of the test window. Remember that the tests in NMAT-2011 will be generated randomly from a pool of questions. You may be able to improve your score provided you have prepared better and have performed better during subsequent attempt that you decide to take but there is no guarantee that your scores will improve in subsequent attempts. Scores will be equated for all the candidates and the percentile scores will be calculated after all the candidates have given their exam(s) and announced on January 31, 2010 at NMIMS website www.nmims.edu.

This shall encourage candidates taking the test to take calculated risks and not drop a question for the fear of deduction in marks. The system of no negative marking is as per the current best global practices and psychometric principles.

NMAT 2011 shall offer a maximum choice of 3 attempts to candidates. This option has been developed in the test process to assess candidates’ best performance.

The NMAT-2011 Scaled scores by section and exam total scaled score will be announced within 4 to 5 weeks after the candidate has tested. The percentile scores will be calculated after all the candidates have given their exam(s) and announced on January 31, 2010 at NMIMS website www.nmims.edu.

Scaled scores – All the test forms are equated to account for any differences in overall difficulty and the raw test scores are placed on a common scale. This is done to ensure scores are comparable across test forms such that the scores are not impacted by different candidates getting different test forms.

Percentile scores - The percentile rank or score shows how a candidate scored when compared to all other candidates who took the exam (e.g. all candidates who gave the NMAT 2011). For example, if a candidate is said to be at the 75th percentile, the candidate scored better than 75% of the candidates who took the NMAT-2011.

Candidates will not be sent any results directly to them. NMIMS will publish scaled scores every 4-5 weeks and the final percentile results on this website on January 31, 2011.

You can register for NMAT-2011 through an online registration application available on website www.pearsonvueindia.com/nmat from 9:00 am (IST) onwards starting September 8, 2010. Online registrations will close at 11:59 pm Indian Standard Time (IST) on October 15, 2010. NMIMS shall not accept registrations from candidates in any other mode or form.

Candidate will be able to schedule the test on his / her preferred date, time slot and Test Centre only if seats are available at that Test Centre for the date and time slot being sought (First Come First Served basis). As the candidates will be required to schedule their NMAT-2011 test after registering through an online application system, the earlier they register, the earlier they will receive their username and password and the earlier they will be able to schedule their exam online. Candidates may not get their preferred date, slot and Test Centre if other candidates have already taken up the available seats for that particular date, slot and center. In such a situation, candidates would need to look at other options of date, time slot and Test Centre that would be available to them, and take a decision, and schedule themselves accordingly.

“First come First serve” principle applies to both Registration and scheduling. The earlier you register and make payment, the earlier you will receive your scheduling information. And the earlier you schedule your test, the higher the chances of you getting your preferred date, time and location.

Candidates can edit certain fields like Present address and academic background in their application form till they receive confirmation from NMIMS of receipt of Fee paid for registration. The test fee for registering for the NMAT-2011 from September 8, 2010 to October 15, 2010 is INR 1650. Candidates registering during the Late registration window from October 16, 2010 to October 31, 2010 will be required to pay INR 2150.

You are required to first register through an online application by filling in personal, educational and work related details. Then you must make fee payment through your preferred mode of payment. Once your registration applications are found to be complete in all respect and your payment has been received by NMIMS, you will receive an e-mail with username and password enabling you to schedule your exam. You will be able to select the date, time slot and Test Centre of your choice based on the availability of seats. The test will then be scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis (the earlier a candidate registers online, the better their chances of taking the test at the location, date and time of their preference). Following that, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you containing the location, date and time of the test that you have successfully scheduled for.

Registration means filling the online registration application and making the requisite payment on www.pearsonvueindia.com/nmat.
Scheduling means candidates scheduling their exam on www.pearsonvue.com/nmims for a certain date, time and center using the log-in ID provided by Pearson VUE after the registration is completed by the candidate.

Cancellation of a successful registration or scheduled test will lead to forfeit of the test fee and no refund will be entertained under any circumstance.

Candidates need to ensure that the information submitted by them is correct. In case any information is found to be incorrect at a later date, NMIMS shall have the right to cancel the test score. In the event of the cancellation of the score due to furnishing of incorrect information, the test fee paid by the candidate will not be refunded.

A registration will also stand cancelled if there are duplicate registrations, the application has incomplete information or test fee is received by NMIMS after the due date. Registration forms, for which the registration fee is not received in time, will be rejected outright.

You can re-schedule your test 72 hours or more prior to your scheduled appointment, subject to availability of seats, upon payment of an additional fee of INR 800. The re-schedule window will remain open during the entire exam delivery window from September 21, 2010 to December 28, 2010 until 11:59 PM IST. Please also note that this transaction on any Master Card or a Visa card may be processed in US Dollars equivalent of INR 800, and depending upon the credit card organization’s arrangement there may be certain service charges or commission charged to your credit card account to be borne by you. Please note that payment can only be made through a credit card (Master Card and Visa) as seats cannot be reserved and a real-time payment method is required to secure your new test appointment.

A Candidate after taking his / her test can decide to retake the NMAT-2011 in order to try to improve his / her scores. Candidate will be allowed to schedule a new test by paying INR 1650 through Credit Card only. A candidate is allowed to take the NMAT–2011, a maximum of three times (first attempt plus a maximum of two retake attempts). A candidate will be allowed to schedule the retake test on a date which is 15 or more days later than the date of his/her previous attempt. In other words, a candidate will have to wait at least 15 days before he / she can appear for a retake attempt.

The Rescheduling option will be available to candidates for the entire duration of the test delivery starting September 21, 2010 till December 28, 2010. A candidate can decide to reschedule his / her test no later than 72 hours prior to his / her scheduled test, to a different date, time and test center, subject to availability, by paying an additional fee of INR 800. Seat availability in terms of test center, slot or date will be on a “First come First serve” basis. A test cannot be rescheduled if 72 hours or less remain before the scheduled appointment time.
